About this site

Welcome! I’m glad you’ve found your way to Saved by Grace, a collection of my thoughts during my journey as a United Methodist pastor. As the senior pastor of First United Methodist Church in Mount Dora, Florida, I haven’t found my rhythm yet though the frequency of posts is beginning to increase. There are plenty of past posts, though, since I started this blog during my church planting days with The Well from 2011 through 2014 in Valrico, Florida.

Full of unique stores, Mount Dora also offers a thriving art community, festivals through most of the year and many musical and theater productions. Home to First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora, the church reflects the community in the variety of options available for people to connect to the church, to each other and to the community. You can see them all at our website, www.mountdorafumc.org

I pray that you’ll stop by and see us, whether you live in Mount Dora or are visiting. We’ll be glad to welcome you!

God bless you,
Kim Uchimura
Senior Pastor
First United Methodist Church, 440 E 6th Av, Mount Dora, FL 32757

Hi Kim. My name’s Keri and Mont in the FLUMC office just told me about your church. Would love to email you about a couple of things if you’re willing. Maybe too much for a comment here. hahaha. You should have my email address as part of the comment (visible only on your/the admin’s end) – if you’re open to that, would you send me an email so I can reply? Thank you, and hope to talk with you soon!

saw your latest post (about naming your fellowship) under the wordpress “house church” tag. We’ve been doing the house church gig now since 1999. While it may not be for everybody, I would never go back to the traditional model.

I’m so glad to hear from someone who has been doing this longer than me (since July 2011). What is it that you like best about the house church? Oh, and I noticed ‘monkdouglas’. Do you follow the Benedictine Rule? I’m an oblate of St. Brigid’s of Kildare, a United Methodist Benedictine Monastery.

Let me know what you think.
