About this site

Welcome! I’m glad you’ve found your way to Saved by Grace, a collection of my thoughts during my journey as a United Methodist pastor. As the Senior Pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist in Bradenton, Florida, I haven’t wri it ten at all yet. I will find the rhythm over the next couple months. In the meantime, there are plenty of past posts.

Bradenton is one of those seaside towns that swells considerably in the Fall and Winter with friends from all over the US and even other countries to take advantage of winters that are far milder than home and beaches, such as nearby Anna Maria Island, that beg to be visited. Though there are many retirees in the area, it is also rich with singles, couples and families with children.

I pray that you’ll stop by and see us, whether you live in Bradenton or are just passing through. We’ll be glad to welcome you!

God bless you,
Kim Uchimura
Senior Pastor
Emmanuel United Methodist Church

Hi Kim. My name’s Keri and Mont in the FLUMC office just told me about your church. Would love to email you about a couple of things if you’re willing. Maybe too much for a comment here. hahaha. You should have my email address as part of the comment (visible only on your/the admin’s end) – if you’re open to that, would you send me an email so I can reply? Thank you, and hope to talk with you soon!

saw your latest post (about naming your fellowship) under the wordpress “house church” tag. We’ve been doing the house church gig now since 1999. While it may not be for everybody, I would never go back to the traditional model.

I’m so glad to hear from someone who has been doing this longer than me (since July 2011). What is it that you like best about the house church? Oh, and I noticed ‘monkdouglas’. Do you follow the Benedictine Rule? I’m an oblate of St. Brigid’s of Kildare, a United Methodist Benedictine Monastery.

Let me know what you think.
