I haven’t always been a pastor. After toiling for 17 years in the banking industry, I stopped telling God to ‘talk to the hand’ and followed his call into ministry in 1998. I had young children when I started (5, 8 and 11) so I took the seven-year plan to completing my Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando while also working at my home church, First United Methodist Church of Brandon, Florida. After seminary, I served St. Andrew’s UMC in Brandon for six years followed by three years planting house churches with The Well. In July 2014, I started an appointment as Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Mount Dora, Florida.
While I have an office, I like to spend some time each week at local restaurants or coffee shops. Sometimes, I post where I’ll be on Facebook so drop by if you can.
My husband, Greg, and I have three wonderful grown children. Katherine and her husband Bobby returned from almost three years in Hawaii last spring and on Christmas day last year, welcomed their daughter, Avery Grace, to the family. Michael graduated with a Master’s in Integrative Marketing Concepts in August and now works at public relations company. Elizabeth will finish a BA in Music in December of this year. Greg and I share our empty nest with our Yorkie mix dog, Charlie. The activities that make my heart sing are spending time with my husband and friends, playing and listening to music, swimming and reading. I hope you will find these snippets of the journey interesting, informative, thought-provoking and most of all, faithful to God.
I write about many topics. On the right hand side of front page of the blog, below the monthly archive is a list of Things I Talk About. Click on any one of them to see the posts I’ve written about that topic. I hope you’ll drop by often or better yet, subscribe to my posts through email or RSS. I read every comment and I love a good discussion, so go ahead and make that comment, even if you disagree with my point of view. I look forward to hearing from you.
God bless you,
First United Methodist Church of Mount Dora
