I haven’t always been a pastor. After toiling for 17 years in the banking industry, I stopped telling God to ‘talk to the hand’ and followed his call into ministry in 1998. I had young children when I started (5, 8 and 11) so I took the seven-year plan to completing my Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando while also working at my home church, New Hope United Methodist Church of Brandon, Florida. After seminary, I served in a number of different churches (St. Andrew’s and The Well at New Hope in Brandon, First in Mount Dora, Hyde Park and Temple Terrace in Tampa) prior to my current appointment as Senior Pastor at Emmanuel United Methodist in Bradenton, Florida
My husband, Greg, and I have three wonderful grown children. Katherine and her husband Bobby live outside Tampa and have four little ones, ages newborn to 5. Michael and his wife Erin just mover time Fort Myers whole Elizabeth lives and works full time at Florida State University in the Music Library and will finish a Masters in Library Science in the next year.
The activities that make my heart sing are spending time with my husband and friends, playing and listening to music and reading. I hope you will find these snippets of the journey interesting, informative, thought-provoking and most of all, faithful to God.
I am restating this blog after a few years away but have left my prior entries for any who are interested. I write about many topics. On the right hand side of front page of the blog, below the monthly archive is a list of Things I Talk About. Click on any one of them to see the posts I’ve written about that topic. I hope you’ll drop by often or better yet, subscribe to my posts through email or RSS. I read every comment and I love a good discussion, so go ahead and make that comment, even if you disagree with my point of view. I look forward to hearing from you.
God bless you,
Senior Pastor, Emmanuel United Methodist
